The Neverending Story

It's collaborative story time. Please continue the story below by posting one sentence at a time, attempting to create one continuous plot. Today, we will use Poe's "The Raven" as a jumping-off point. From there, it is wonderful if our story diverges wildly from the original, ie. it does not rhyme or mention a raven. The story should never end, but if it reaches a natural settling point, maybe it's time for a new chapter.

Please refresh the page shortly before you post to make sure nobody has beat you to the next sentence. Post hastily! The only rule is that you may not post 2 sentences in a row. Our story begins here:

"My, what big eyes you have!" she said, to which I replied "All the better to see you with, my dear."
Hurriedly running towards the car, her confusion sounded like someone perched atop an industrial-strength dryer, "Wait, wait, was that your Mom?!"

Faced with the inevitable, and looking to avoid the potential legal repercussions of her witnessing my accidental crime, I needed to act fast.

Stopping dead in my tracks, I fell to one knee.
I sighed, and reaching slowly behing my head, began unzipping my false human-head-skull cap to reveal...
I said, "Yes, dinner is just the thing," but before I could move, eight tentacle arms suddenly latched onto my face and pulled me into my dates mouth, completely devouring me in one unsafely large bite and then there were no more Jordans involved in the story.
